Valentine’s Day Bearded Love

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and a lot of our bearded customers are preparing for a big night out with their special someone. Leading up to a Valentine’s Day date, guys go through a lot of effort to ensure that they choose the perfect outfit, find the most thoughtful gift, and pick a restaurant that will ensure a memorable evening. But there’s another thing that guys should pay a lot of attention to on this romantic holiday, and it’s their beard.

Your beard has a tremendous impact on your overall appearance and the vibe that you give off in general. That’s why it’s so important that you make sure that your beard is in good shape for Valentine’s Day. A sloppy, disheveled and unclean beard can ruin the vibe that you’re going for, and this is the case whether you’re taking someone out for the first time or spending the holiday with someone you’ve been involved with for years.

The good news is that we have created a guide to caring for your beard this Valentine’s Day.

How to Ensure That Your Beard Will Be Looking its Best

Proper beard care requires multiple steps, and each one must be executed with quality products and a decent amount of effort.  By following each of the steps below, your beard will be ready for whatever romantic plans you have in mind.

Step #1: Wash Your Beard with a Dedicated Beard Wash

First things first: a dirty beard is definitely not a good look when you’re going on a date. A beard that’s greasy and dirty shows a girl that you don’t care all that much about hygiene, which is going to turn her off. Even worse, dirty beards can smell, which will really decrease the likelihood of getting a goodnight kiss after a romantic evening.

Luckily, there’s beard wash. Find a dedicated beard wash and use it as the first part of your routine. This will ensure that you don’t have to worry about feeling embarrassed about the cleanliness of your facial hair.

Step #2: Make Sure It’s Trimmed

If you’ve been growing out your beard lately, you want to make sure that it looks neat and presentable when the time comes to go on your date.  This means that you want to have it trimmed so that it’s even and tidy. If you don’t feel comfortable trimming your own beard, there are plenty of professional barbers out there who can do the hard work for you.

Step #3: Make Sure It’s Shaped

Trimming is just one part of beard maintenance. Shaping is a whole other animal, and it’s just as important. The right beard shape will complement your facial features and ensure that your beard looks very stylish and neat. So, when you’re doing a trimming session, whether on your own or with the help of a barber, consider having your beard shaped up as well.

Step #4: Use Some Extra Beard Oil

Beard oil is a must in general, as facial hair is naturally prone to dryness.  In order for our beards to be soft, glossy and healthy-looking, a high-quality beard oil must be applied each day. Otherwise, beards can look brittle, frizzy, damaged and broken, which is not a good look when you’re trying to look your very best for someone special. During the colder months of the winter, our beards can take a serious beating, which is why you may want to use more beard oil than usual when getting ready for Valentine’s Day. This particular month tends to be very dry, which can rob moisture from your facial hair.

Step #5: Use a Little Beard Balm

Our facial hair tends to do its own thing no matter how much we try to control it.  Hairs grow in different directions, which can lead to a very messy look. The good news is that there is beard balm, which allows you to style your beard effortlessly, ensuring that it looks neat and controlled. Beard balm is a styling product that also supplies your facial hair with extra moisture so that it can withstand the harsh winter temperatures of February.  So, before you leave to go on your date, scoop out a little beard balm with your fingers as a finisher for a stylish and tidy beard.

Step #6: Keep it Free of Food

If your date revolves around eating, which most Valentine’s Day dates do, make sure that you don’t make the mistake of allowing food to collect in your beard.  This will only look sloppy and unappealing. The best way to make sure that you don’t let your beard accumulate food debris is to routinely run your fingers through your beard discreetly to dislodge any crumbs. And, make sure that you bring a beard comb with you as this will come in handy throughout the night.

Step #7: Use Scented Beard Products

Finally, we recommend using scented beard products that are made from natural essential oils.  These natural fragrances smell intoxicating without being overpowering, and they’ll add to your overall appeal during your date.  If you’re going to go with multiple scented products, make sure that they are complementary fragrances. And, skip the cologne if your beard product scents are especially potent.

Different fragrances convey different messages.  For instance, woodsier scents are associated with masculinity, while spicier scents are exotic and intriguing.  Choose the fragrance that best matches your personality as well as the vibe that you’re going for that evening.

Use This Guide as You Get Ready for Your Big Valentine’s Day

By following the steps above, your beard will be in great shape for Valentine’s Day, which will make you all the more irresistible.  Whether you’re planning to spend a night in with your committed partner or taking a girl out to dinner for the first time, proper beard care is essential if you want to make a good impression.
