Alternative Ways to Boost Facial Hair Growth
If you’re looking to improve your beard health, there are a lot of products out there that can moisturize those strands, nourish those follicles and even boost hair growth. However, the truth is that if your overall health isn’t in good shape, your beard can only benefit from beard care products so much.
One of the main health-related factors that can cause beard-related woes is stress. Stress, as we know, affects our health negatively in a number of ways. And, many of us feel as though major stress is a part of life, and that therefore, there is nothing that we can do about it.
However, there are two stress reduction methods that have been proven to work and can be done for free in the comfort of your own home, they are yoga and meditation.
Link Between Stress and Your Beard
Many of us underestimate just how much stress can wreak havoc on our facial hair, not to mention our overall health. When we experience stress, our bodies release a hormone called cortisol. This hormone, known as the “stress hormone,” causes many different chemical changes to occur in the body. One of these changes involves essentially shutting down the hair follicles. When we are stressed, our brains believe that our bodies must conserve as much energy as possible in order to be able to properly defend ourselves. This means that bodily processes like growing hair are put on the back burner.
As you can imagine, if we’re chronically stressed, we’re going to experience serious problems with growing out our beards. This is why many men find that their hair falls out during prolonged episodes of stress. Additionally, stress can deplete nutrients from the body, and many nutrients in our diet directly improve the condition of our beards.
Yoga and Meditation: Healthy Stress Relief for a Healthier Beard
Yoga and meditation are two proven methods to reduce stress. Both of these ancient practices require dedication, but what they also have in common is that they can be done at home, without any cost, due to the wide variety of online tutorials and books that are available. Of course, if you wish, you can also take classes outside of your home.
Both yoga and meditation slow down the body’s production of cortisol thanks to a variety of techniques that are used to calm the mind. Once the mind has reached a calm state, the brain ceases to secrete excessive cortisol levels, which means that hair follicles can go back to operating at their highest level. Additionally, when we’re in a calmer state of mind, our body is less likely to burn through nutrients so quickly, which means that more of those essential nutrients can go to our hair follicles in order to nourish our beards. And, of course, it goes without saying that reducing stress using these methods can benefit a lot more than just our facial hair.
Finding Balance with Your Inner Beard
Yoga and meditation are two great methods for improving the health of your beard, and the best part is that they’re both free, and don’t require that you leave your home. Both of these ancient practices are capable of boosting hair growth, while ensuring that your hair follicles are supplied with the nutrients that they need, in order to function at their highest level.
So, if you’re ready to kiss that stress goodbye and say hello to a luscious beard, it’s time to look into starting a daily routine consisting of at least one of these practices.
